it was a small miracle when the workers of the PSA port in jurong heard of the birth of....a litter of 8 puppies!
excited shrieks of victory -- and excitement? -- echoed through the hallowed halls (and alleyways) of the Port of Singapore Authority, as eager men laid eyes on the furballs. they did not yet know how to walk, and the men were keen on raising them. they managed to persuade the mother dog (affectionately known as Poppy! -- with the exclamation mark) let them keep the puppies. how did they persuade such a magnificent - and dangerous - pedigree dog? simple - lean in, here's the secret to success with mutts! food is ALWAYS the way to their hearts!
coincidentally, the guy who "delivered" the puppies was my dad's friend and of course taking care of 6 puppies and one cranky mother dog requires alot of time and patience and effort, he asked my dad to take 2 of the puppies home to look after them.that's how Alpha and Aiko's story began...
... in an apple crate which had obviously seen better days ...
they were so skinny and light when we found them sqeaking away, frightened to the bone. when we finally managed to calm them down, we left them in their box to rest for the night.
the next morning,we thought of giving them their first meal - dog's milk (we specially bought it for them) so when we took them out of their box , we realised that they stilled hadn't learnt to walk yet! so they tried as hard as possible to move around, close to the ground. then they started sniffing around, as if finding their mother. that moment , our very precious Chloe popped out of nowhere and began to sniff them...they made freinds at first... ( look at the picture below) Chloe sniffs Aiko, one of the puppies i have a special liking for...she's the female while her brother , the black one is Alpha.
